Actor, comedian and television host, Ellen DeGeneres has just about done it all. DeGeneres was not always a comedian, however. After graduating from high school, she majored in communication. Her first few jobs out of graduation included waitressing, house painting and working as a sale associate at J.C. Penny. However, her desire for comedy truly shined through when she began doing stand-up at coffee houses and clubs. After touring nationally in the early 1980s, DeGeneres landed on coveted spot in the cult classic Cone Heads. From there, she secured her own TV show. She has since been in a wide range of movies and television shows. Perhaps the most famous role she has played is taking on the voice of Dory in Finding Nemo and the recent sequel Finding Dory. Both movies achieved critical acclaim, with Finding Nemo bringing in $380 million worldwide. Outside of her film and tv roles, DeGeneres is a well known for her support of the LGBT community as well as a staunch vegan and animal rights advocate.
